Sudan Premier League champions Al Merreikh have sacked head coach Nasreddine Nabi and his assistants.

The development comes after the Sudan giants were held to a goalless draw by visiting Simba SC in a Group A Total CAF Champions League match on Saturday at the Al Hilal Stadium, Khartoum.

The draw means the Tanzanian giants remain top of the group with 7 points, while AS Vita who held African champions Al Ahly to a 2-2 draw in Cairo yesterday are second on 4 points, but a better goal difference than the Egyptian side who have the same points.

Al Merreikh are bottom of the table with only one point after losing their earlier two games to Al Ahly and DR Congo’s AS Vita.

After the draw last evening Al Merreikh announced the sacking of Nasreddine Nabi and his assistants Hamadi Sagheer and El Dao Gadamelkhair.

The team has now announced the signing of former Birmingham City manager Lee Clark as the new coach. Al Merreikh will next travel to Tanzania to face Simba SC on March 16th, while Al Ahly face AS Vita away in DR Congo.
