CAF 3rd Vice President Waberi mourns Somali Football administrator

The Third Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Souleiman Hassan Waberi has mourned Somali football administrator Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud who died on Thursday.

Mahmoud, a veteran Somali football administrator and former international referee breathed his last at a hospital in Mogadishu.

“I have known him for more than 25 years, he was my closest friend in Somali football. I am sorry to have lost a great friend and a very fine man,” said Waberi, also the Djibouti Football Federation president in his condolence message to the Somali Football Federation (SFF).

Abdiqani Said Arab, President of SFF said it was sad to hear the death of Mahmoud. “It is with greater sadness to hear of the death of our beloved brother. With his death Somalia has missed a veteran football administrator, an instructor and a great friend,” said Abdiqani Said Arab in a statement.

Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud, also a former general secretary of SFF was part of the CAF team at the Total Africa Nations Championshop that took place in Cameroon early this year.

The body of the late Somali football administrator, will be laid to rest in Mogadishu today.
