Byaruhanga glad to win Uganda’s Footballer of the Year Award 2021

Uganda Cranes and Vipers SC midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has said winning the 2021 Footballer of the Year Award 2021 is a big step in his football career.

Byaruhanga was crowned on December 4th at the sixth edition of the Airtel FUFA Awards held at Speke Resort, Munyonyo. The ceremony was graced by the Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah as the chief guest.

The 20-year old Byaruhanga said that winning this Award means so much to him. “This Award will make me work even harder as a footballer,” added Byaruhanga.

“I lost my father when I was young and paying school fees became a challenge. It is at this moment that I want to thank Mr. Justus Mugisha who got me from Kisoro and offered me a scholarship at Standard High School, Zzana,” said the player. Mugisha is also the First Vice President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

To win the Award Byaruhanga played a big role in helping the Uganda Hippos team finished second in the AFCON U-20 finals and also guided Vipers SC lift the Uganda Cup.

He also put up a good during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Byaruhanga beat teammate Abdul Aziizi Kayondo and Express forward Eric Kambale to the Award.

Fauzia Najjemba was also crowned female player of year 2021 at the same ceremony which was also attended by the FUFA President. Moses Hassim Magogo.
