Burundi’s Ndabihawenimana selected to officiate AFCON 2021
Burundi’s Pacifique Ndabihawenimana is among the top match officials who have been selected to officiate at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The tournament, Africa’s biggest football showpiece will run between January 9th to February 6th in Cameroon.
The seasoned Burundian referee together with Rwanda’s Salima Mukansanga were selected, while Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia) and Kenya’s Peter Wameru Kamaku were also selected to be Video Assistant Referees (VAR).
The list contains 13 referees, 19 Video Assistant Referees, 15 assistant referees and 17 Assistant Video Assistant Referees (AVAR) selected from across the continent and Drew Fisher, from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Drew Fisher.
Uganda’s Dick Okello together with Gilbert Cheriyot (Kenya), Liban Abdourazak Ahmed (Djibouti) and Sudan’s Ibrahim Abdalla Mohammed are also among those selected as assistant referees.
The 24 teams that will feature in the AFCON 2021 include; Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cape Verde, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Malawi, Morocco, Ghana, Comoros, Gabon, Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Guinea Bissau, Algeria, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania and Gambia.
