Burundi’s Buja Queens face tricky Yei Joint Stars
The CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers – CECAFA Zone Group A matches return this afternoon with two matches on card at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Burundi’s Buja Queens FC who placed third on the log will face Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan) in the first match.
Buja Queens opened their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, but recovered to win by the same margin against Kampala Queens FC (Uganda). The South Sudan Women champions also started with a 3-0 defeat to Kampala Queens, but put their act together to stop Djibouti’s FAD FC 2-0 in their second match.
Feruzi Haruna, the Buja Queens coach has made it clear that they are determined to win their remaining two matches. ” We are treating every match seriously because there is no team to be undermined here. I know Yei Joint Stars have three points like us and we must make sure we are at our best, ” added Haruna.
The Yei Joint Stars coach Abdallah Loi Umar also made it clear that after winning against FAD FC, his team is well motivated to face Buja Queens. ” We know Buja is a strong team, but we shall be organised enough to counter them, ” added the coach.
Yei Joint Stars will have to keep a close watch on some of the Buja Queens experienced players like Asha Djafari, Vivian Aquino Corazone, Topister Situma and Elizabeth Wambui.
Second placed Kampala Queens FC will also be more than hungry to find as many goals as possible against a FAD FC team that has played two matches and conceded 10 goals. Charles Ssenyange, the Kampala Queens coach has made it clear they must comfortably win the match if they are to have any chance of qualifying for the next stage.
The best team in the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers will play at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 to take place in Cote d’Ivoire.
