Burundi face Djibouti in CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship kick-off

The CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship 2022 will kick-off this afternoon with Burundi facing Djibouti in a Group A match.

Gustave Niyonkuru, the Burundi head coach told Cecafaonline that they will take every match like a final.

“We have prepared well and the players know what we expect from them,” added Niyonkuru ahead of the match at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

But Djibouti’s player Neima Abdillahi Said says they are also well prepared for this tournament. “We know facing Burundi will not be easy, but we are ready,” added Said.

The second Group A match will see Uganda Crested Cranes facing Rwanda.

Shadia Nankya, Uganda’s skipper made it clear that they are determined to prove a point and win the trophy. “The last time we played Rwanda it ended 2-2. But this time we are determined to show that we are better than them,” added Nankya.

Sosthenes Habimana, the Rwanda head coach also made it clear that they know what to expect playing against the hosts Uganda. “We have prepared well and should be able to get a good result,” added Habimana.

Action will return on Thursday with two Group B matches on card as Zanzibar face Ethiopia, and Tanzania take on South Sudan.

Group A: Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Djibouti

Group B: Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan, Ethiopia
