Biashara United disqualified from TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disqualified Tanzanian side, Biashara United from the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

Biashara United who had defeated Libya’s Ahly Tripoli 2-0 in the first leg of the second round match failed to travel for the return leg in Benghazi, Libya.

“CAF has disqualified Tanzanian side Biashara United from the 2021-22 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in accordance to article 16 of the competition Regulations,” said CAF in a communication today.

Biashara United was meant to play the return leg against Ahly Tripoli at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, Benghazi on October 23rd, but indicated that they had some travel challenges.

Ahly Ahly will now will now proceed to the additional second Preliminary round against Mali’s Stade Malien.

The other teams from the CECAFA region that will battle in the additional second preliminary round include; Simba SC (Tanzania), Tusker FC, Gor Mahia FC (Kenya) and APR FC (Rwanda).

The winner over two legs will qualify for the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
