Azam FC to battle Simba in Mapinduzi Cup 2022 final
The Mapinduzi Cup 2022 final will take place tomorrow at the Amani Stadium.
NBC Tanzania Premier League sides Azam FC and Simba SC will tussle it out in the final.
To reach the final Azam FC won all their three matches in the group stage, before stopping 2021 champions Young Africans SC 9-8 in penalty shoot-outs in the semi final after the match had tied goalless.
Simba SC who have also qualified for the 2021/2022 group stage of the TotalEnergies Confederation Cup registered a win and draw in the group stage and a 2-0 win against Namungo FC at the semi final stage. Meddie Kagere and Pape Sakho netted the goals in the semi final match played on Monday.
This year the Mapinduzi Cup attracted 10 teams from Zanzibar and Tanzania Mainland.
The Mapinduzi Cup is organized by the government of Zanzibar and the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF). The competition is a played to commemorate Zanzibar’s Revolution day which is marked annually on January 12th.
