Rwanda’s AS Kigali and Kipanga SC (Zanzibar) have picked draws at home in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

AS Kigali settled for a goalless draw against Al Nasr (Libya) in a match played at the Huye Stadium on Saturday.

The Zanzibar Premier League side who ejected South Sudan’s Hilal FC Wau in the first round also held the experienced Tunisian team Club Africain to a 0-0 draw at the Amani Stadium.

It was a bad day for the other two teams from the CECAFA Zone as Hilal Al Sahil from Suda lost 2-0 away to Pyramids in Egypt, and Azam FC (Tanzania) fell 3-0 to Al Akhdar at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya. Azam FC’s goalkeeper later stopped a penalty kick in added time.

On Sunday Ethiopia’s Fasil Kenema will host CS Sfaxien from Tunisia at the Bahir Dar Stadium.
