Al Merreikh stop Hilal Alsahil in Sudan Premier League
Giants Al Merreikh made a winning start in the Sudan Premier League on Tuesday.
The defending champions defeated Hilal Alsahil 3-0 in a match played at the Jabal Awliya Stadium.
Azzam Adil gave Al Merreikh the lead after only 6 minutes. Mohammed Musa and Al Jazouli Noah added two more goals in the second half.
The match also helped Al Merreikh to prepare for a TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group A match against Mamelodi Sundowns slated for February 19th in Khartoum. Reigning champions Al Ahly (Egypt) and another Sudanese team Al Hilal are also in the same Group.
In a related development Al Merreikh have re-appointed Lee Clark as the new head coach. He takes over from Brazillian Leonardo Neiva who was only in-charge for 51 days.
