Sudan Premier League reigning champions Al Hilal SC registered a 2-0 win against Asante Kotoko FC in an international friendly match played on Tuesday night at the Al Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum.

The two teams used the match to prepare ahead of their respective local seasons and the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League which starts next month with the preliminary round.

Al Hilal under new coach Florent Ibenge netted in each half to give the Ghana Premier League champions no chance.

Lamine Jargo gave the home side the lead after 42 minutes off a corner, while Khater Awad made it 2-0 at the stroke of full time after a defensive lapse by the Asante Kotoko team.

New signing Steven Mukwala from Uganda and Nicholas Mensah had some opportunities infront of the Al Hilal goal, but were not clinical enough.

The two teams will play another International friendly on August 26th at the same Stadium. Al Hilal will also hosts Tanzania’s Simba SC in an international friendly, while Simba SC will also play Asante Kotoko in Khartoum.

Teams in the CECAFA region have been busy with international friendly matches ahead of the CAF tournaments. Uganda’s Vipers SC have already played against Young Africans SC (Tanzania) and Rayon Sport (Rwanda), while Simba SC hosted St. George (Ethiopia), and Azam FC (Tanzania) played Zambia’s Zesco United.
