Al-Hilal hold Mamelodi Sundowns in CAF Champions League

Sudan Premier League side Al-Hilal Omdurman battled to a goalless draw against in-form Mamelodi Sundowns in a Group B CAF Champions League match played on Friday.

Under the blistering hear at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Khartoum, the hosts battled hard to try and get maximum points infront of a few fans who were allowed to access the stadium, but failed to break the Sundowns’ defending line.

The South African Premier League side created more scoring opportunities, but also failed to utilize them.

In Algeria home side CR Belouizdad pipped DR Congo’s TP Mazembe 2-0 with Amir Sayoud and Youcef Bechou scoring in the last six minutes of the game.

Mamelodi Sundowns, the 2016 winners of the CAF Champions League moved to 13 points on the log, CR Belouizdad are second with 6 points, while Al-Hilal Omdurman have 4 points. TP Mazembe are bottom of the log with 2 points.

On Saturday two other teams from the CECAFA region will be in action with Tanzania’s Simba Sc hosting DR Congo’s Vita Club in a Group A tie in Dare er Salaam, while Al Merreikh host reigning champions Al Ahly of Egypt in Khartoum.
