African champions Algeria test Burundi

The Desert Foxes will face Burundi in an international friendly match later tonight in Qatar.

Algeria, the reigning African champions are using the match to prepare ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers where they face Djibouti and Burkina faso next month.

Djamel Belmadi, the Algeria coach said he will give some of the new players chance to play against Burundi to test who are well prepared ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying matches.

Burundi who were ejected at the preliminary stage of the qualifier will also use the friendly to test some new players. “It is a good chance to face African champions Algeria because it will give our team a good test,” said Burundi’s coach Jimmy Ndayizeye.

Burundi together with Uganda and Kenya featured in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2019 in Egypt.
