Yei Joint Stars still have a chance –  coach Loi Umar

The head coach of Yei Joint Stars, Abdallah Loi Umar has said they still have a chance to qualify for the later stages at the on-going CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone.

Yei Joint Stars FC, the South Sudan side started their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Kampala Queens Fc, but recovered to stop FAD FC (Djibouti) 2-0 in their second Group B match played at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Friday.

In the match against FAD FC, the South Sudan side benefited from an own goal by goalkeeper Soubane Ahmed Omar, and another goal by substitute Justine Eunice Kilega

”  I am glad that my players played better against FAD FC and this win gives us another chance to qualify for the next round. We have two matches against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and Buja Queens that we must go out and try to win, ” added the coach.

He made it clear that the win against FAD FC has given his players more confidence and motivation to work harder. ” Each of the remaining matches is like a final for us, ” added the coach.

Yei Joint Stars are placed fourth in the group although they have 3 points just like third placed Buja Queens (Burundi).

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia top the group with 7 points after their 2-1 win against Buja, 8-0 victory against FAD FC and a 1-1 draw they picked against Kampala Queens on Friday. Buja Queens defeated Kampala Queens FC 2-1 in the other match played few days ago.

Today Group B table leaders Vihiga Queens FC (Kenya) will face Tanzania’s JKT Queens at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru in a match which will decide which team tops the group. The second Group B match to take place in Kampala will see New Generation FC (Zanzibar) battle AS Kigali Women FC (Rwanda).
