South Sudan reach CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship semi-final stage

The South Sudan team have booked the last slot in the semi-final at the on-going CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship in Njeru, Uganda.

South Sudan went into their last Group A match on Friday against Djibouti needing a win and hoping that Ethiopia would suffer defeat to hosts Uganda.

The Sudan Sudan team came all out and humbled Djibouti 12-0, while Uganda Rhinos stopped Ethiopia 4-0 in the second Group A match. South Sudan finished with a better goal difference than Ethiopia who also finished with four points.

In-form Lazarus Peter George netted seven goals, while Anur Loburu scored a brace. South Sudan scored the other goals through Louis Domano, Ajo Komoro and David Biel.

Lazuru Peter George, the South Sudan captain who has now netted eight goals in the competition said they are excited about making it to the semi final stage. « It is a nice feeling that we have made it to the semi finals. We shall work hard in the next round to try and get to the final, » added the captain.

In the second match Uganda Rhinos kept they 100% wining record with a 4-0 victory against Ethiopia. Owen Mukisa scored in each half for Uganda, while Richard Okello and Enock Bagenda also had their names on the score sheet.

On Saturday Group B matches will climax with Somalia facing Rwanda, and Tanzania taking on table leaders Zanzibar.

In Group B which will conclude on Saturday Zanzibar and Tanzania have already qualified for the knock out stage. The semi final stage will take place on Monday, while the final is slated for November 16th, 2023.
