Simba SC hold Azerbaijan Premier League side Zira in friendly tie
Tanzania Premier League side, Simba SC have settled for a 1-1 draw against Azerbaijan’s Zira FC in a pre-season international friendly match played on Monday.
After both teams missed some scoring chances in the early 30 minutes, it was Denis Kibu who put Simba ahead after 33 minutes at the Bolu Stadium in Turkey.
Simba SC goalkeeper Ally Salim had earleir denied Zira FC the lead when he stopped Filip Pahtmaan’s penalty kick after 19 minutes.
Zira FC who finished fifth in the 2022/2023 Azerbaijan Premier League side later leveled matters after 63 minutes through Ahmadzada Rustam. The two teams tried to push forward to find more goals, but the match ended 1-1.
Roberto Oliviera ‘Robertinho, the Simba SC head coach said he was happy with the performance of his players in the first match since they started pre-season in Turkey few days ago.
” We shall keep working hard and improve as the new players also fit into the team, ” added the Brazilian coach who guided Simba SC to the quarter final stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
