New African Football League to kick-off in Tanzania – Dr. Motsepe

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe has said the new African Football League will kick off in Tanzania.

The President made the revelation on Thursday during the 45th Ordinary Assembly of CAF at the Sofitel Hotel in Abidjan, Côte d’ivoire.

Dr. Motsepe said instead of the original name Africa Super league, the new competition will now be called the African Football League. ” The Africa Football League will kick off in Tanzania on October 20th, 2023, ” said the CAF President.

Tanzania’s Simba SC is expected to join other top tams in the African continent to feature in this new competition.

The new competition was launched in Arusha, Tanzania last August during the CAF General Assembly. During the launch it was revealed that the prize money will be USD 100 million, with the winner receiving USD 11.5 million.

Itw as also announced that some of the funding from the new competition will be used to allocate USD 1 million per annum to each of CAF’s 54 Member Countries, which is a total of USD 54 million per annum to develop football in all the African countries.
